Trader Joe’s Edition – The Daily Aztec
A fall-themed food guide for this spooky season
With temperatures slowly starting to drop, misty mornings arriving, and oversized hoodies looking like a real possibility, it’s safe to say that fall has finally arrived. Trader Joe’s shelves are filled with every possible combination of fall drinks, foods and homemade treats. Seriously, if you’re looking for a great cinnamon broom, they’ve got you covered. However, with so many options, how can you decide which is worth it? As a self-proclaimed Trader Joe enthusiast, here’s a rundown of some of the store’s most anticipated picks for this season. fall treats.
Pumpkin Spice Hummus
I had no idea how I thought this hummus would taste, but I was definitely unprepared. It’s absolutely delicious. After three days, my housemates and I devoured just about the whole bath. Julia Walker, a second-year public health student, described hummus as undeniable and addictive. “The dip is the perfect combination of a rich, sweet and moist pumpkin pie filling,” she said.
Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese
The cashier was shocked while scanning this item, but not for the reasons you might think. He told me he was surprised there were still some left, and now I fully understand why. The squash puree and three-cheese blend melt effortlessly, forming a mouth-watering combination with the pasta. I will totally buy it again, no questions asked. Thank you Todd (the wonderful cashier)!
pumpkin hold the cone
These ice cream cones are on a whole new level. I let out an “oh my god” on the first bite. 10000/10. That’s all.
Non-dairy pumpkin oatmeal beverage
As someone who is still going the alternative milk route, I was more than eager to try this when Jordan Kennerary, a sophomore in health communication, recommended it. “This cream is the epitome of fall,” Kennerary said. “It’s creamy without being overpowering; get ready to make the best drinks of your life.
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Fat Free Greek Yogurt & Pumpkin Pie Spice
I’m a huge yogurt lover, but unfortunately this didn’t meet my expectations. It was oddly sour, even for a Greek yogurt. However, I mixed the pumpkin pie spice together and it was much more appetizing. Yogurt, no. Pumpkin pie spice, yes please.
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Cereal Bars
Delicious and convenient, these bars ticked every box for on-the-go snacking. The pumpkin filling wasn’t very strong, but it was definitely there. They taste way better than most granola bars I’ve tried and are the perfect size. “If you’re going to buy regular bars anyway, you might as well switch to this festive option,” said Phoebe Griffiths, a second-year computer science student.
That’s only covered a small portion of the delicious fall treats Trader Joe’s has to offer. With a store literally on campus, there’s no excuse not to walk in and partake in your own fall food review. As Trader Joe’s “Fearless Flyer” said, “Let the pumpkin roll and the maple sink!”
